VALKOVA ROAD
Welcome to the website of Valkova Road, a representation of a typically bustling contemporary town.
"You can't put a city centre into four by two!" That was pretty much how the ball began rolling with a first attempt at building an exhibition layout. The idea was to create a typical contemporary city scene - but space constraints limited the senic baseboard to 4 x 2. This is the end result - hope you like it.

Valkova Road is set in a city centre on the site of a long closed goods yard. Urban regeneration during the '90's saw the construction of a new commuter station designed to give rapid access to the city centre whilst offering an alternative to the congested city roads.

The passenger service is mainly provided by a provided by a cross-city shuttle, with additional long distance trains working into the area. All passenger trains are formed of diesel multiple units due to platform length. Not that giving passengers a seat in return for an exhorbitant fare would occur to the bean counters who run today's TOC's anyway...

A small amount of freight can be seen at Valkova Road as the odd Enterprise wagonload traffic is tripped in en route for loading / unloading. There are also a number of engineering trains visiting during a typical day.

To cater for the servicing needs of additional motive power in the area, a small fuelling point was opened at Valkova Road. This is frequented by a variety of locos that find themselves in the area. It also provides the blokes with something to do while 'er indoors is shopping along the High Street.

The Imperial Hotel dominates Valkova Road, providing outstanding views and photographic vantage points from the bedrooms. Strangely enough, this vital fact has been omitted from their brochure. The hotel is loosely based on the The Castle Hotel at Windsor (Happy Memories!) The Imperial also provides some good old fashioned family entertainment at Flashdancers Nightclub that offers pole dancing, lap dancing and a strip show. So you can combine all your hobbies at one place. How cool is that?

If you prefer dancers to keep their clothes on (don't laugh it could happen), then pay a visit next door to The Haymarket Theatre where a variety of shows and concerts take place. These change regularly so that different performances can appear at exhibitions. In this instance, a Rachel Stevens concert was on stage. In case there is any doubt, the photo shows Rachel Stevens and not the layout operator. So if you come to a show and expect to see this, then you leave disappointed.

Here we stop by Valkova's Road famous Chippy - Susie's Plaice. Famous customers here include: Barry Whitebait (well, he's a sole singer), Sharkira, Goldie Prawn, Skate'n Stevens, Cat Fish Stevens, Anchovy Chase, Salmon Rushdie, Tuna Stubbs, Richard Eel Grant, Dolphin Rundgren, (Manta) Ray Charles, Angelina Joliefish and Cod. Okay, okay - it's a load of Jason Pollocks.

Who says Britain's youth has an obesity problem? Not me - I'm lovin' it. Would you like fries with that? And yes, a strawberry milkshake does count towards your five-a-day.

Oh sh*t.
